About WORD05
WORD05 is a live vocabulary experience built around one rule: one word, for exactly five minutes.
At any moment, everyone visiting WORD05 sees the same English word. When the countdown reaches zero, that word disappears and a new one takes its place.
There is no search box, no previous-word button and no public archive. WORD05 is designed around the word that exists right now.
Why five minutes?
Five minutes is long enough to notice a word, read its meaning, hear its pronunciation and perhaps remember it — but short enough to create a reason to return. There are 288 five-minute moments in a day. Think of it as a faster, live alternative to the traditional word of the day.
A shared word of the moment
WORD05 is globally synchronized. Sydney, Berlin, London, New York and everywhere else receive the same slot at the same time. The clock is global; your timezone does not change the current word.
The word pool
WORD05 uses a 150,000-word candidate pool. Candidate words are checked against live dictionary data before display, and unusable entries can be skipped. The aim is variety without turning the experience into a searchable dictionary.
What WORD05 is not
WORD05 is not an archive of every definition and it is not designed to replace a dictionary. It is a deliberately small live experience for vocabulary, language discovery and curiosity.
